QIDDIYA THEME PARK - KSA
Qiddiya (above) is to be seen as ‘an anchor’ within the greater metropolitan area of Riyadh, working in consultation and coordination with RCRC to ensure Qiddiya’s and Riyadh’s Vision are aligned.
It should plan for a resident population in excess of 600,000, responding and contributing to the future growth of Riyadh, with flexibility to grow to that number, and even beyond, over time.
Multi modal connectivity to Riyadh have been considered including a hierarchy of roads, potentially multiple Metro lines, fast rail connection to the airport and link to the highspeed National Rail Network.
Transportation corridors have been planned in terms of land use, other key real estate projects and Riyadh’s economic growth opportunities.
2.1.2 Qiddiya Resort Core
Located some 45km west of central Riyadh, and to be connected via public and private transport links, the Resort Core will be the ‘Theme Park of Theme Parks’ at the heart of the Qiddiya development. It will be a high energy and immersive experience, anchored by a series of enclosed and open theme parks, two connecting entertainment villages and an integrated speed and street track that will host the FIA Formula 1 race event.
Set within a three-sided bowl of 200m high screeded cliffs, the Resort Core sits on an undulating lower plateau area which opens up to the west and will be connected via public transport to the new Downtown area. To the east, the City Centre will be located on the upper plateau to which the Resort Core is similarly connected via public transport.
